The size (or GDP) of the world economy is $113.7 trillion and agriculture as an industry contributes 6% of this amount—this means the value of the world agriculture industry is $6.822 trillion. Despite just contributing 6% to the size or value of the world economy, the agriculture industry employs 34.6% of the world’s labor force. The world’s labor force is made up of 3.39 billion people and 1.17 billion of these people work in the agriculture industry.
